Administrator's Message

Greetings Village School Community!

With 8.5 days left in the school year, things are moving fast! Spirit Week, bowling, concerts, trips to the park, popsicles, play practice, fun in the sun, and on and on! We are finishing the school year with a bang. Spirit Week was really fun, seeing all the different creative outfits and ways students came up with to celebrate VS spirit. Our favorite day was career day, seeing all the various things that our students might become when they grow up! It has also been AWESOME to see all the plays this year, after such a long break.

Last week we also held our Spring Concert, which went smashingly. Thanks to everyone involved who helped put that show together, most especially our fantastic music teachers Mr. Brett, Chris Halaska, and Ms. Jennifer! The students sounded great and the weather was fine! Be sure to check out the photos and videos in this week’s edition if you weren’t able to make it here for the concert.

Middle school students have also been working hard with the help and oversight of Andy Peara on completing this year’s yearbook. All the classes had a class photo last week for the yearbook and they are looking great! We can’t wait to see the final version. What a year it’s been!

Reminder: Please make a plan to return all your student’s library books in the next two weeks!!

Thank you so much!

Sincerely,

Roz, Shannon, and Andy

Spring Music Assembly

The Spring Music assembly was a wonderful showcase of the 4th through 8th graders hard work throughout the year. Thank you to Brett, Chris, Jennifer and the students--it's been a great year of music! Click here for Videos of the performances thanks to Ms. Chrissy and her husband James!

5th Grade Field Trip to Emerald Lanes

The 5th graders got to go on a fun-filled field trip to Emerald Lanes for a morning of bowling!

Student Art Projects

Students show off the paper mache art projects they've been working on with Mercedes!

Village Kitchen

On Friday we welcomed farmers from Rainbow Acres Community Farm into our school garden. They brought two miniature ponies, Cupcake and Moose, with them for students from KG and 1st grade to meet. Children had the opportunity to learn about the farm and what role the ponies fill out there as well as feed and brush Cupcake and Moose!

Students from 2nd, 1st and 8th grade helped harvest lettuce and radishes from the school garden for use on our salad bar. Yum!

June Menus

June Breakfast and Lunch Menus are now available to view below! You are also welcome to pick up a paper copy in the office.

Volunteering!

Village School families are asked to contribute and record at least 40 hours of volunteer work at the school each year, and single parent households are asked to contribute 20 hours. It is this support that allows us to offer such strong programs with limited financial resources. We also welcome grandparents and other relatives to volunteer in your place!

Be sure to watch your email, the Village Voice and the Village Vine for messages from Parent Council, your class coordinator, your child's teacher and the Village School Kitchen, to see the volunteer needs that are coming up for you to enjoy.

If you haven't filled out your volunteer paperwork yet, please stop by the office to pick up a packet.

Another way to contribute to our school community is by attending Parent Council Meetings! Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 6th at 5:30 PM. We are still holding these meetings by Zoom so they are easy to attend (even while making dinner or folding laundry) and every parent and guardian's voice is valued in decisions about what Parent Council funds are used for, events that are held and collaborations with departments and teachers at the Village School!

We adore our volunteers! Village School would not be what it is without you. Thank you so much for making Village School the incredible community it is!

Don't forget to sign in to HelpCounter and report your hours so we can see the amazing contributions from our Village School Families. If you

Summer Garden Volunteers Needed

The school garden is in need of caretakers in June and July.

  • Our chickens will need water every few days and food checked once a week.

  • The garden itself will need watering every couple of days.

You get eggs and veggies to eat out of the garden during your volunteer time!

Please contact Brett if you can help out.

Spirit Week

Thank you all for your enthusiasm on Spirit Day! We loved seeing all the different costumes and school spirit!
