Administrator's Message
Greetings Village School Community!
Wow! The rains have officially arrived! We witnessed some serious downpours over the last few days. Please take a minute to check in with your student and make sure they have a set of extra clothes at school to change into in case they get wet at recess. Today we completed our first earthquake drill for the year. Everything went off without a hitch, as expected!
We have an important request for Wednesday 6pm, December 4th. Our sponsoring district, Eugene 4J, will be holding a public hearing about the renewal of our charter. This will be our 5th charter renewal. We have requested a 10 year charter renewal. We hope families can come to the District office at 200 N. Monroe that evening to show support for our school.
Lastly, we’ve been enjoying the extra glow in the air while the lower grades and kinder prepares for or completes their yearly lantern walks! What a sweet and light filled community event! We are so glad that these teachers take this on, it’s such a memorable event. We all remember our own kids at their lantern walks years ago!

Charter Renewal Meeting Weds, Dec 4th, 6:00 pm at 4J Offices: 200 North Monroe
As we move through our 25th year as a school, our charter agreement with the Eugene 4J School District is coming up for renewal. On December 4th, the 4J Board will hold a hearing at 6:00pm to gauge public interest in continuing The Village School's charter. We are asking families and staff members to take part in the meeting if they have the time. Picture Retake Day
Picture Retake Day will happen tomorrow morning (Thursday, 11/21 at 10am). If your child is planning on retaking their photo, please put their name on the Google Signup. Here is the link to order.
4th Grade Field Trip
The 4th graders went to see the salmon at Whittaker Creek Campground. Thank you so much to the parent volunteers who joined the students on what turned out to be quite the stormy day!
Kindergarten Lantern Walk
The kindergarteners kicked off lantern walk season, lighting up the neighborhood with their beautiful lanterns!
Volunteering
The Winter Concert will take place on Thursday, December 12th, and we are needing volunteers for chaperoning, ushering, setting up/cleaning up, and transporting instruments. This is the last big event of the year and a great way to work toward meeting your 40 hours! Clothes Donations
The office is in need of some clothes for our lending library. We are especially low on pants (sweatpants would be ideal!) for Kindergarten through 8th grade students. If you have gently used clothes that your child has outgrown, please consider donating them to the office. Thank you!
Opportunity to Attend the Village School

Title I Reading/Math Services, 2024-2025
Every fall, winter and spring, our Title staff and classroom teachers administer reading and math assessments to each of our students. If a student in grades 1-5 scores below the 30th percentile, she/he may be recommended by our team to receive instructional interventions in reading and/or math with their progress monitored. At The Village School, all students receive up to 90 minutes of language arts and 60 minutes of math instruction each day. If your child will be receiving additional reading or math instruction, his or her classroom teacher or the Title I coordinator will notify you. Please see the links below for additional information.
